Some bikes have a way of finding their way home.
When Triumph celebrated 35 Years of Modern Triumph at the Hinckley factory on Saturday 1 August, Nige was there with a bike that has a story stretching back almost as far as the modern Triumph era itself — his 1992 Triumph Daytona 750.
Nige originally bought the Daytona from M&S Motorcycles Newcastle in 1993.
He owned it for several years before selling it in the summer of 1997.
Then, at Easter 2023, while looking online at some of the Triumphs he'd owned over the years, he spotted a Daytona 750 for sale.
It wasn't simply another example of the same model.
It was his old bike.
After more than 25 years apart, there was really only one thing to do — Nige bought it back and brought it home.
This summer he registered the Daytona as a show bike for Triumph's 35 Years of Modern Triumph celebration in Hinckley, joining riders and motorcycles from across the modern Triumph era for a day celebrating the bikes and the community around them.
Nige said:
“It was really good to see early Hinckley Triumphs on show as well as later models. All the Triumph staff were very helpful and friendly, which added to a great day.”
A Daytona bought in Newcastle in 1993, sold four years later, discovered again by chance in 2023 and now back with the person who owned it all those years ago.
