At just 16 years old, Jay is already a British championship winner, a keen off-road rider and a motorcycle apprentice here at Triumph Newcastle.

For Jay, motorcycles have always been part of life. He first started riding at just three years old, thanks to his dad, and hasn't really stopped since.

It's definitely in the blood.

These days, Jay and his dad travel all over the country together for races and events. It's one of the things Jay enjoys most about the sport — getting out on his bike, visiting different places and spending time with his dad.

A British Championship Winner

Last year, Jay celebrated his biggest achievement so far, winning the British Sprint Series Championship.

Competing across seven rounds throughout the year, taking the overall championship was a particularly proud moment.

Of course, off-road riding comes with its challenges. Jay has had a few broken bones over the years, although not all from racing, and admits that waiting to recover and get back on the bike is one of the hardest parts.

But none of that has dampened his enthusiasm.

Learning the Trade at Triumph Newcastle

Away from racing, Jay is currently completing a three-year motorcycle apprenticeship at Triumph Newcastle.

It's a great opportunity to combine his passion for motorcycles with learning the skills of the trade, gaining valuable hands-on experience alongside the workshop team.

One of his favourite moments so far has been getting to work on his very own Triumph TF 250-E, including carrying out the pre-delivery inspection himself.

And having the support of the team at Triumph Newcastle has meant a lot to him.

What's Next for Jay?

Jay's ambition for next year is straightforward: compete in the championship again and hopefully bring home another title.

And for anyone thinking about getting involved in off-road riding, his advice is equally simple:

"Do it because you love it!"

It's a pretty good attitude to have, whether you're competing for championships or just starting out on two wheels.

We're proud to have Jay as part of the team at Triumph Newcastle and look forward to following his progress, both in the workshop and out on the racecourse.

Good luck, Jay. We'll be cheering you on!
