The Nod: Lee’s Honda NX500 Scotland Adventure
We recently asked our riders to send us their bike trips, ride-outs and adventures for The Nod — our way of sharing the real stories behind the bikes and the people who ride them.
Lee from Monkeywood Garage got in touch after completing a solo motorcycle camping trip around Scotland aboard his Honda NX500.
From Durham to the Highlands
Setting off from Durham, Lee’s first stop was Loch Lomond, where he took in the views from Firkin Point before continuing north to Glencoe for his first night under canvas.
The following day, he rode the A86 through the Highlands to Invernahavon in the Cairngorms, ready for another night of camping.
From there, Lee travelled south, crossing the Queensferry Bridge before spending his final night camping on the coast near Edinburgh — complete with a fire pit to finish the trip.
Four days, three nights and 600 miles
Over the course of four days and three nights, Lee covered around 600 miles, taking in some of Scotland’s best riding roads and scenery along the way.
Fully loaded with camping equipment, the Honda NX500 handled the entire journey flawlessly.
It is a brilliant example of just how much can be packed into a few days when you have a bike, a tent and a good route ahead of you.

The lenders we work with could pay commission at different rates. However, the amount of commission that we receive from a lender does not have an effect on the amount that you pay to that lender under your credit agreement.” All of our finance is offered at the same rate to each customer, we don’t vary the rate. How am I scored? Different lenders have different methods of scoring you for your suitability of your finance application. We are not privy to the score, nor how they arrive at it.
